How do I connect a custom domain to my Hostmade site?

To use your own domain (like yourcabin.com), add it in your site's Settings, then create a CNAME record at your domain registrar pointing to Hostmade. Hostmade provisions the HTTPS certificate for you and serves your site on the www version as the canonical address.

How do I put my site on a custom domain?

Hostmade uses the www version as the canonical address (for example www.yourcabin.com), and redirects the bare domain to it, so links and search engines all point to one consistent URL. If your registrar doesn't allow a CNAME on the root domain, use the www CNAME and set the root to redirect to www — Hostmade expects www to be canonical.

Two ways: let Hostmade register a brand-new domain for you and set it up automatically — no DNS, no separate registrar account — or connect a domain you already own. Either way, Hostmade secures it with HTTPS and serves your site on it.

Option 1: Get a new domain — we register and set it up for you

The turnkey way. In your dashboard, each site suggests an available domain based on your property (for example bluebirdcabinaspen.com) — or you can type the exact one you want and we'll check that it's available.

On your site's row, choose Claim this domain and pick a suggestion (or enter your own).
Hit Launch. Hostmade registers the domain, points it at your site, and issues its SSL certificate — automatically.
A couple of minutes later your site is live on your own domain. There's nothing to set up at a registrar.

The domain is included with a Hostmade subscription — we register it and keep it renewed for you while you're subscribed.

Can I use a domain I already own?

Yes. If you already have a domain (from GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Google Domains, etc.), you can point it at your Hostmade site instead of registering a new one:

Open your site's Settings in the dashboard and add your domain.
Hostmade shows you the CNAME target to use.
At your registrar, add a CNAME record for www pointing to that target.
Wait for DNS to propagate (usually minutes, up to a few hours). Hostmade verifies the domain and issues an SSL certificate automatically.
Your site goes live on your domain over HTTPS. You keep ownership of the domain at your registrar.

Custom domains — new or your own — are a Premium feature, so launch or connect one after you've upgraded.
